One of the few citizens of Frackstonville other than the high school outcasts who is aware of the strange things happening in town. John Freewell (sounds like "free will") is an energetic, optimistic teacher at Frackstonville High who lives to encourage young people to make the most of life, to cheer them up, show them life's worth living, and share his faith. Naturally, these traits keep him on the wrong side of the law and he's frequently in and out of jail for daring to give kids hope for life.
